Renault is working on a comprehensive sales strategy for 2015 which includes captive financing as well as a pre-owned vehicles business. In addition to these two new ventures, the French automaker will also aim to double its sales and service network.
Renault will be one of the newer entrants into the used car market and is expected to sell its own vehicles rather than multi-brand retail like some of the other major players have taken up. It is expected to start these operations by the second half of this year and is currently running operations internally on a pilot basis.
Renault believes that working in this direction right from the beginning will greatly help it in the future more so when it completes a specific age to have enough number of its models on the roads which are more than five to seven years old.
The company is also working on a process to provide captive financing for its customers. In addition it is also expected to offer services for insurance as well as registration of vehicles. In the company’s terms, it aims to provide a one-stop solution for all the customer’s needs.
On the expansion front, the company currently has 157 outlets, which it plans to expand to 280. It is also looking to setup over 300 service centers across the country but has not specified by when this will happen.
