Renault had showcased the facelift Fluence at the Istanbul Auto Expo in 2012. The car is currently on sale in a number of European markets and was expected to come to India by the end of this year. That expectation has now gained momentum with the car having been spotted near the French automaker’s manufacturing plant at Oragadam, off Chennai.
The facelifted Fluence will get a refreshed look both inside and outside. The car now gets a new front grille following the lines of its European siblings. The front bumper also gets a design revision with the inclusion of LED day time running lamps.
The inside gets ample electronic wizardry with features like get a new satellite navigation module, a touch screen infotainment unit, parking sensors, an electric parking brake, improved upholstery and a new completely digital instrumentation cluster.
The Fluence in India currently gets two engine options that include a 2.0-litre petrol engine making 137PS and 190Nm and a 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine good to make 109PS power and 240Nm of torque. The petrol variant also comes mated to a CVT automatic transmission while the diesel gets a 6-speed manual box. In terms of engine options, the international model also gets 1.6-litre turbo diesel, though it is not certain to arrive on Indian shores.
The facelift Fluence is currently on sale in a number of markets including Turkey, from where the CKDs (Completely Knockdown Units) of the current Fluence arrive to India. A transition to the facelifted version in India will be seamless and hence eminent. As expected the car will come to India by the end of the year unless the company decides to capitalise on the coming festive season in starting in September.
