Renault will launch the Duster compact SUV in India tomorrow. The Duster has already created a stir and is expected to create a new segment – compact five-seater SUV in the mass market. Renault has started accepting bookings for the Duster week back for a token amount of Rs 1 lakh, and has received well over 1,000 orders already.
The Duster will be available with three engine options in three variants – RxE, RxL and RxZ. The petrol versions will be powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine producing 102bhp, while the 1.5-litre diesel will be offered in two different power ratings. The base and the RxL variants have a dCi diesel producing 85bhp and 200Nm of torque; however, Renault will also offer the 110bhp and 250Nm version with a six-speed manual gearbox for the RxL and RxZ variants.
The prices of the Renault Duster are expected to be between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 12 lakh. The compact SUV does not have any direct competition at this moment, but will be compared with the soon to be launched Mahindra Xylo Mini and the Ford EcoSport. The Duster will also be exported to the right-hand-drive UK market with Dacia badging by the end of this year.
