e Renault Duster is currently available with six-speed AMT transmission only in the diesel guise. However, the carmaker is now readying a petrol powered automatic of the crossover with the Xtronic CVT transmission. The car has been spotted at a dealer’s yard, which is an indication that the launch of the Duster petrol automatic is just around the corner.
The CVT will debut in the RxS trim, mated to the 1.6-litre K4M four cylinder petrol engine producing a healthy 102bhp and 148Nm. The Xtronic CVT gearbox already does duty in Nissan Sunny, Renault Scala, and Nissan Micra. The CVT with the petrol engine claims a fuel efficiency figure of 14.9kmpl.
The RxS trim spotted here gets a new blacked out grille, along with a few decals around the door and on the boot. As the RxS diesel variant recently got an update of seven-inch media navigation system and dual front airbags as standard, expect the same with the new RxS petrol automatic. The 16-inch alloy wheels get a gun metal finish. On the inside, there are red highlights all around the cabin and on the new upholstery.
With an increasing demand for petrol vehicles these days and its competitors already offering the petrol automatic, it seemed like a viable decision for the French carmaker to put in the automatic transmission in its crossover. When launched, the Duster petrol automatic will pose an alternative to Hyundai Creta, Ford Ecosport and Nissan Terrano. We can expect this car to be launched in a couple of months.
