It seems Renault India is about to offer the Duster with the convenience of an automatic gearbox. The popular compact SUV has been spotted wearing heavy camouflage and a makeshift paper covering for the gear lever.
While the concealed gear lever is a clear giveaway that Renault India is readying an automatic version, the heavy camouflage on the exterior suggests that the brand could also be preparing a facelift with updated looks.
The Duster automatic is expected to come with Renault’s EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) gearbox. This 6-speed unit will be paired with the existing 108bhp 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine. Renault could also equip this dual-clutch gearbox in the all-wheel drive version of the Duster.
When launched, the Duster automatic will mainly compete with the automatic version of the recently launched Hyundai Creta.
