Renault Duster achieved the milestone of one million in sales since its launch in 2010. The Duster, a joint-effort between Renault and its Romanian subsidiary Dacia, is sold as the Dacia Duster, Renault Duster and the Nissan Terrano. The one millionth vehicle made in Renault’s Curitiba plant in Brazil will be delivered to a local customer.
“Duster is a truly global success story,” explains Arnaud Deboeuf, the Renault Group’s Entry Programme Director. “With Renault branding, it perfectly meets the demands of our international customers and is contributing to Renault’s expansion in emerging markets. At the same time, the Dacia-badged version sold in Europe and our Mediterranean Basin markets has succeeded in attracting a new clientele to the brand thanks to the styling and genuine all-terrain capability it delivers for an affordable price. Duster is definitely a model that is winning us new customers.”
The Duster is made in five countries worldwide: India, Brazil, Romania, Colombia and Russia. The first Duster rolled out of Romania in 2010 followed by Brazil, Colombia, Russia and India. These five facilities cater to the 100 countries the crossover is marketed in.
Renault’s manufacturing facility in Chennai, India, caters to the South African and Indonesian markets where it is marketed as the Renault Duster. And, it also caters to the UK, Cyprus, Malta and Ireland where the vehicle is sold as Dacia Duster.
The Duster has achieved astounding success in a short while and is accredited to have given the Renault brand credibility in the Indian market. This year we may get the facelifted Duster with cosmetic changes to the interiors and exteriors.
