Renault will launch the 4x4 version of the Duster, in India, tomorrow. The two new variants with all-wheel-drive transmission (AWD) will be sold alongside the existing line-up of the compact SUV. Apart from the mechanical changes, the AWD also gets few additional features.
The Duster AWD will be available with a 110bhp version of the 1.5-litre diesel engine. The top two variants – RxL and RxZ, will get the four-wheel-drive option, along with ESP. The AWD can be controlled from the cabin via a toggle switch that has three options – 2W l, auto and 4W lock, which can be changed on the fly.
There are hardly any changes to the exteriors of the Duster AWD apart from the badging on the side and the rear of the car. The changes to the interior include a new instrument cluster and touch-screen infotainment system for the top-end RxZ version.
The Renault Duster AWD will be the first entry-level five-seater SUV to get AWD. Although it does not have a direct competitor, the slightly pricier option for the SUV is the seven-seater Mahindra XUV500.
