The Renault Duster 4X4 may be launched in September. When the French automaker launched its crossover in the Indian market in mid-2012, it brought only the front-wheel-drive models and this is believed to be due to cost and demand.
The South African market which gets its cars from the French automaker’s Chennai plant has a 4X4 version of the Duster. The four-wheel drive system has been mated to the 110PS 1.6-litre engine that produces 108bhp and 240Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox and the four-wheel-drive system.
We believe that this version of the Duster will debut the facelifted design philosophy that we saw in July last year. The 4X4 Duster is expected to be priced Rs 1 lakh more than standard 110PS variant but might lose some of the features in a bid to control the price.
