> Renault is expected to showcase this new Coupe-Crossover at the Moscow Motor Show in August
> Looks significantly larger than the Euro-spec Captur
> Will be produced in Russia
Close on the heels of Renault sharing their first teaser shot of its new crossover, a test mule of the same car was spotted testing recently.
Renault may obviously gauge how the market reacts to this vehicle at this year’s Moscow Motor Show before leveraging it into production. The above picture depicts a heavily masked prototype that’s larger than the Euro-spec Captur. A sure-shot sign that it could be based on the larger ‘made-for-Russia’ Kaptur.
Looks-wise, this iteration gets a sharper nose with a redesigned bumper. But it’s the rear that will be the highlight as the regular roof-line will be ditched for a sportier Coupe-style sloping roofline. Although there’s no confirmation, sources expect this new vehicle to use Renault’s range of diesel and petrol powertrains that power its current SUV line-up, albeit in a different state of tune.
Renault has already unveiled its plan to launch this new Coupe-Crossover model in the Russian market before it trickles down to the rest of the world. Think of it as an affordable version of the likes of similar models from premium brands. Going by the current Coupe-SUV frenzy, Renault may have just nailed it this time around. So, stay tuned to CarWale for the details.
