- The Kwid is the highest seller for the French carmaker.
- Renault becomes the fastest carmaker to achieve this milestone in the country.
Renault India has achieved a sales milestone of five lakh units in the country. The French carmaker claims to be the fastest carmaker to achieve this since India is a key market for them in their long-term ‘India strategy’.
The Kwid has been the success story for the carmaker, accounting for 2.75 lakh vehicles which translate to more than 50 per cent of the total sales. Renault also has two design centres in India apart from a manufacturing facility and a technology centre.
Apart from that, Renault promises to bring in new products and services of global repute to India as a part for the ‘India strategy’. Over the past few years, the French carmaker has been focusing on establishing a strong foundation in the country. The company has already expanded its network presence to more than 350 facilities across India. The current focus area, according to Sawhney, is to widen the portfolio across the segments and enhance ownership experience to ensure better after-sales services to the customers.
Commenting on the achievement, Sumit Sawhney, CEO and managing director, Renault India Operations, said, “India is a strategic market for the success of Renault’s medium-term plan. Being local in India is very important and that's why we have a state of the art manufacturing facility, a world-class technology centre and we are the only global brand to have two design centres in India. Going forward, we will continue with our product offensive strategy in India and will work towards substantially growing the Renault brand in India.”
Renault India says they have formulated a strong product-offensive plan for India, with a heavy emphasis on localisation in its future range of products. With a long-term commitment to the Indian market, Renault India plans to bring several new innovations in products and services to meet the evolving needs and preferences of the customers.
