Mercedes-AMG has launched the refreshed C63 range in Europe. Prices for the C63 sedan start at £66,429 (Rs 59.09 lakhs) while the more practical estate costs £67,629 (Rs 60.16 lakhs). The more desirable coupe and convertible versions have also been launched.
The C63 AMG uses AMG’s hand-built 4-litre V8 ‘hot V’ biturbo petrol engine which generates 476bhp or 510bhp for S models. For the first time the C63 now comes with the 9-speed automatic gearbox instead of the 7-speed used in the earlier car.
AMG suspension with adaptive damping adjustment and an electronically controlled rear-axle limited-slip differential are now standard on all C63 models. The C63 S also comes as standard with dynamic engine mounts to reduce vibrations in the engine/transmission unit.
The C63 sedan can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in just 4.1 seconds, while the estate takes 4.2 seconds. The coupe can travel to 100kmph from standstill in 4 seconds while the convertible takes 4.2 seconds.
Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels; performance exhaust, LED headlights; 12.3-inch digital cockpit display, 10.25-inch central display, ambient lighting with a choice of 64 colours, keyless start, wireless phone charging and memory seats. The C63 S adds nine-stage AMG traction control, AMG Track Pace, AMG performance seats and 19-inch alloy wheels.
