Maruti Suzuki has announced the new Ritz diesel, with a price beginning from Rs 5.31 lakh onwards (ex-showroom Delhi). Among the new features are a ZDi variant that retails at Rs 6.23 lakh that offers all the features of the petrol ZXi variant and a fuel efficiency figure of 23.2kmpl, an improvement over the previous 21.1kmpl.
The facelift has subtly reworked bumpers, grille, headlamps and now has an integrated spoiler at the rear. There is a new paint shade available as well, called "Mystique Red". On the inside the company says it has given the Ritz new dual-tone interiors - this is limited to a red dual-tone interior on the VDi and ZDi variants. The rear seat has also been reworked to offer better lumbar support.
The 1.3-litre DDiS engine makes 75bhp@4000rpm and 190Nm@2000rpm. The fuel efficiency has been increased to 23.2kmpl (ARAI rating) with the help of reduced friction and optimisation. The Ritz ZDi also gets steering-mounted audio controls and dual airbags like its petrol counterpart. In fact, it gets more than the current ZXi in the form of electrically adjustable mirrors.
The Ritz is available in four variants, LDi (Rs 5.31 lakh), VDi (Rs 5.64 lakh), VDi ABS (Rs 5.82 lakh) and ZDi (Rs 6.23 lakh).
