Digital sketches of the to-be-unveiled Datsun redi-GO have been released by the Japanese manufacturer. The sketches resemble the RediGo concept except for the design of the wheels. Built on the same Nissan V platform as the Datsun Go, this will be the Japanese brand’s third car for the Indian market.
The redi-GO will get the same 1.2-litre petrol engine that runs in the other Datsuns. The engine is mated to five-speed gearbox and drives the front wheels while developing a peak power of 67bhp at 5000rpm. The test mules indicate that though the exteriors may not be as futuristic as the prototype, a good number of styling cues have been carried over.
The signature Datsun grille, headlamps and tail lamps have been retained from the concept. There are almost no indicative pictures for the interior but being an A-segment car, the interior will be basic and functional. The cabin will be largely taken from the Datsun siblings. When launched, we expect the RediGo to be positioned to compete with the likes of the Alto 800, the Hyundai Eon and the top-spec Nano.
