Italian supercar maker Ferrari has achieved a new personal record in revenue and number of cars delivered for the first half of 2012. At a meeting of the company’s board of directors recently, Chairman Luca di Montezemolo announced that as of June 30 they had delivered a total of 3,664 vehicles and achieved a total revenue of 1208 million Euros.
The company has achieved 17 per cent growth in its largest market, the USA, which accounts for 23 per cent of its global sales. In the UK it was able to sell 393 cars achieving a growth of 43 per cent. Closer to home, it has sold almost 400 cars in China and 190 in the Middle East achieving a growth of 10 per cent and 7 per cent respectively . Ferrari has attributed this record success to the sales of its California 30 and the 458 Spider, the latter having received Best Performance Engine of the Year award for the second year running.
However, in its own homeland, the company has struggled due to the economic crisis. It was able to sell only 187 vehicles as compared to 351 cars that had been sold in the first half of 2011.
