Land Rover recently announced the prices of the much awaited Range Rover Velar starting from Rs 78.83 lakhs in India. It sits between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport and will hold the reins of the carmaker's strategy of increasing its market share in the SUV market in India. The new Velar gets a modernised yet distinct form of the original Range Rover character. It plays a powerful new role in the evolving Range Rover narrative, which the automaker has lot of expectations from.

Sure the overall design shows the typical Range Rover form. However, the Velar boasts of matrix laser LED headlamps and quad tail lights with signature range rover script.

There is a powered gesture tailgate, which enables simple loading of baggage with hands free access on the exterior. It adds to the convenience of owners.

A modernistic approach towards vehicle personalisation has been used in the Velar with a compelling list of standard features with customisable options.

There are reclining rear seats with climate control, rear seat entertainment and a meridian surround sound system in the premium cabin of the Velar.

Furthermore, the SUV's interior gets 970mm head clearance and 945mm knee clearance for occupants making it a very spacious and comfortable place to be in.

The Velar is available in three powertrains - a 2.0-litre four-cylinder 177bhp diesel, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder 247bhp petrol and a 3.0-litre V6 296bhp diesel.

And, it's not an SUV with all show and no go. It's equipped with all terrain progress control (ATPC) for strong off-road performance. 

The Velar has got a very good response globally and is already pre-booked till March of 2018. The company intends to start deliveries by January 2018.
