Land Rover India has officially introduced the new top-end SVR (Special Vehicles Racing) variant of the Range Rover Sport for Rs 2.03 crore (ex-showroom Mumbai). One of the fastest SUVs in the world, this is the first vehicle from the Special Vehicles Operation division at the JLR.
The Range Rover Sport SVR has few tweaks at the front for additional air ducts and a sporty matte black grille. The car appears to have a squatter stance and the rear gets a more aerodynamic spoiler and diffuser for better downforce. The matte black inserts are visible here as well and the quad exhausts complete the look.
Under the hood is the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 tuned to deliver 542bhp and 680Nm of torque. 0-100 comes in 4.1 seconds and the top-speed is restricted to 261kmph. The bigger highlight however is the fact that Range Rover Sport SVR clocked 8 minutes 14 seconds around the Nurburgring in October 2014, the fastest time by an SUV before at that time.
The SVR comes with air suspension and adaptive damping, active sports exhaust system, racing- inspired locking wheel nuts and massive 21-inch tyres. The Range Rover Sport SVR is made to order, at the JLR’s new performance division. The car will be imported to India as CBU and competes mainly with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
