From the pictures, it certainly looks like Land Rover has begun testing their Range Rover Sport coupe.
What gave its identity away is the extra camouflage around the rear section which tries to hide the sloping roofline and the sharply raked window-line. This is brand’s first shot at the Range Rover Sport coupe, and it will not be as practical as the regular model, especially when you consider the lesser headroom, a smaller boot, and a more expensive price tag.
However, expect it to look great thanks to the sloping roofline which brings about the coupe stance to this model. The idea isn’t new as BMW and Mercedes-Benz have already done this with their X6/X4 and GLC/GLE coupe versions. Sources report that this so-called ‘Sport coupe’ will use the aluminium-intensive construction and suspension setup from the Jaguar F-Pace to make it a more road-focused product. While engines for the Sport coupe may probably be shared with the regular model, expect a hybrid powerplant from the upcoming I-Pace to also find its way to the line-up.
Land Rover could reveal this model at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show in September, so stay glued to CarWale for the details.
