Reports suggest that Range Rover’s Sport Coupe, which was spotted testing at the Nurburgring race track a few months ago, could possibly turn out to be Range Rover’s first all-electric vehicle.
Sources reveal that the Range Rover Sport Coupe is expected to carry a battery-electric powertrain that will also find its way on to Jaguar’s upcoming ‘I-Pace‘, an electric version of the F-Pace that could be unveiled next year. It is speculated that the Range Rover Sport Coupe will share the F-Pace’s all-aluminium architecture, and the suspension set-up.
Range Rover’s Sport Coupe EV will also allow the brand meet California’s regulation for car makers to have a 15 per cent mix of battery-electric vehicles in their fleet, between the years 2018 and 2025. Additionally, hybrid variations of the SUV could also be offered in China, Europe, and the USA. Other than this, there’s hardly any information about the brand’s upcoming EV, but expect the vehicle to be revealed late next year or in 2018.
