The Range Rover Evoque XL has been spied in Kerala by the guys at Team-Bhp. The vehicle bears a UK registration plate and has been spotted at Technopark in Trivandrum. The IT Park is home to a Tata ELXI design and development center which leads us believe that the vehicle has been brought into India for review and development purposes. This vehicle had previously been spotted somewhere in Europe by Car Magazine UK.
The Evoque XL, when launched, will sit between the standard Evoque and the Range Rover Sport in the British SUV maker’s portfolio. It is likely that as a part of their platform streamlining plan, it might replace the Discovery 4.
The vehicle is being developed keeping in mind markets like China and India that have a preference for long wheel base versions. Considering the success of the Evoque globally, adding another vehicle to the range would increase choices for the consumers.
The Evoque XL is likely to share the engine, underpinnings and feature with the standard Evoque. However, there are some changes to the test mule and these include a different front grille and alteration in the design of the C pillar to accommodate the extra length.
The report suggests that UK registered Land Rovers at the location are not an uncommon sight at the Tata ELXI campus. However, this is the first time that the vehicle has been spotted outside of mainland Europe.
