After being rumoured for what seemed like eternity, the convertible version of the Evoque will finally turn into reality as Range Rover seems to have given the go-ahead for the vehicle to be put into production.
The Evoque convertible was first shown as a concept at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The production-spec model is now reportedly being readied for a launch later this year. In all probability, the model will resemble the concept was based on the standard three-door Evoque. It featured a powered soft-top roof with a glass rear screen tucked under a plastic cover located behind the rear seats. We expect the same arrangement to be carried over to the production model. The soft-top arrangement means that the Evoque convertible will be heavier than the three-door vehicle.
The Evoque became an instant success when it arrived in the market back in 2011. The stylish looks and impressive driving dynamics quickly gained acceptance around the world. The Evoque has substantially contributed to Land Rover’s success and with this upcoming convertible model; the brand is now exploring opportunities of further expanding the range.
