Range Rover will bring to this year’s Geneva Motor Show a coupe SUV. Expected to be called the Velar, it will be their first vehicle in this increasingly popular body style and will join the likes of the BMW X4, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe and the Audi Q4. It will be positioned between the Evoque and the Range Rover Sport.
Reports suggest that this new vehicle will be underpinned by the same IQ platform found in the Jaguar F-Pace and will make use of the same set of petrol and diesel engines found in the Leaping Cat’s first crossover offering.
We believe that it will sport all the design traits of the Range Rover family but with the low slung roofline, big wheels and sloping rear section. It will make its debut at Geneva and then be produced at the automaker’s Solihull factory along the Range Rover Sport and Jaguar F-Pace.
The Sport Coupe body style has been a surprisingly decent hit in India. It may just be possible that this may push JLR to get the car to India.
