The Race of Champions in an international motorsport event which is held at the end of every year, where the best racing drivers from across the globe participate. It is the only event where drivers from Formula One, World Rally Championship (WRC), Le Mans etc. participate and race against each other in similar cars.
The first race was organized by former rally driver Michèle Mouton.  Initially it was meant just for rally drivers. But later on, motorcycle champions were invited as well. The winner receives the title “The Champion of Championsâ€, and there is country-wise competition as well.
Every year there is a minute change in the format. In 2007, the drivers were paired to compete as eight nations, each with its team. Here, the drivers compete drivers of other nationalities. The winners advance, losers are eliminated and this continues until the last two nationalities race. In the main event, all the drivers race individually, head-to-head against each other. Here also the rules are similar, just the difference is the race is head-to-head against all. In the ROC Nation’s race and ROC, both the final race has three rounds, the driver/nationality winning best of three is the winner.
2007’s ROC Nation’s Race was won by Germany over Finland. And the ROC was won by  Mattias Ekström of Sweden, beating the seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher of Germany. This year’s ROC will return to London once again on December 14, 2008, and for the first time, Lewis Hamilton will participate. We’re positive racing fans will be waiting with bated breath for the event.
