Qoros is a Chinese-Israeli automotive manufacturing company based in Shanghai and is famously known for its ‘camless’ engine developed along with FreeValve AB, a sister company of Koenigsegg. This year Swedish hypercar maker Koenigsegg is collaborating again with Qoros to showcase a new electric concept at this month’s Shanghai Motor Show.
The Chinese media is speculating that the new concept may be christened as ‘Super EV’, however, the official name is expected to change by the time the concept is revealed at the Chinese auto expo. The new EV seen in the images that surfaced online showcases a four-door fastback with four-seat configuration. The carbon-fibre monocoque will allow a zero to a 100kmph time of 3seconds. The EV will be sold under the Qoro’s banner and the Chinese carmaker claims a range of 500km although there are now details available on the powertrain or battery pack employed.
There is a speculation that the EV will be christened as 9 Q-lectriq since the car showcased last year with the camless engine was called 3 Q-Lectriq. Whether or not the vehicle goes into production remains to be seen. Guess we’ll have to wait until the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show for further details on the yet-another electric vehicle.
