A couple of weeks ago we had told you that Porsche is building a restomod, which is a modern Porsche snuck under a classic one. Well, it turns out that the project is being called the Project Gold and we aren’t surprised.
Because when Porsche gets its head down to build something to celebrate its 70th anniversary, that car would certainly be worth its weight in gold, if not diamonds! From what we know, Project Gold takes a very rare 993-series 911 Turbo S as the base car, of which, only some 183 units have been ever built.
That is some seriously rare pedigree to build upon. Also, the 3.6-litre flat-six twin-turbocharged engine that pumped out about 450bhp of power will be boosted further. With the modern engine-management systems, injectors and internals, we can certainly see northwards of 600bhp going straight to the rear wheels.
The interior upholstery is being put together with gold stitching. You might also find a little more gold in the engine bay and probably on some of the trims inside the car. We cannot wait to see Project Gold come to life because after seeing what Singer and the RuF have done to classic Porsches, it might very well turn out that the factory always aces at reviving their own vintages!
