The production version of the Honda Mobilio has been spied testing. It was unveiled for the Indonesian market on September 19 at their annual motor show and is the third vehicle to be based on the Brio platform. It will be launched for the Indonesian market early next year and this is a sign that the development for the car is on track.
The car that has been spotted here has been painted in a shade called Alabaster silver and sports different kind of alloy wheels from the concept car but otherwise it is pretty much the same. It is expected to be the same story with the interiors and the feature list of which the latter has already been revealed.
The Mobilio is a four-metre plus MPV and will be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol mill from the Civic sedan. In India though, it is expected to also be launched with the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel mill that currently powers the Amaze compact sedan. While the petrol gets a five-speed manual and five-speed automatic, the Indian spec diesel engined version will get a five-speed manual gearbox.
We expect that Honda will price the Mobilio in the range of Rs 5.7 lakh to Rs 8.7 lakh and this will put it in competition with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and the Mahindra Quanto. The Indonesian launch is slated for early 2014 so we should the MPV a fe months later.
