- To debut on 6 November, 2024
- Will compete against the Tata Nexon and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza
Skoda India is actively testing its newest product, the Kylaq SUV. This sub-four metre SUV is set to make its India debut in the first week of November. Ahead of this, the production-ready model of the Kylaq was recently spotted during its test runs in heavy rainfall.
Mechanically, the Skoda Kylaq will use the brand’s tried and tested 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine. This same motor does the duty in the Kushaq SUV with an output of 114bhp and 178Nm of peak torque. As for the transmission options, the Kylaq will get a six-speed manual and an automatic torque converter gearbox paired with this engine.
As visible in the image and in the previous teasers, the new Kylaq will draw heavy inspiration from its elder sibling, the Kushaq. Some of the design highlights include split LED headlamps, sleek LED DRLs flanking the grille with vertical slats, upright bonnet, roof rails, and an electric sunroof.
Feature-wise, the Skoda Kylaq is expected to get a decently equipped cabin with a large infotainment screen, wireless smartphone connectivity, digital instrument panel, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, 360-degree surround camera, wireless charger, rear AC vents, and ventilated front seats.
Upon its launch, the new Kylaq will have fierce competition with the likes of the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Citroen Basalt, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and even the upcoming Nissan Magnite.
