- The Mahindra Thar Roxx will be launched in India on 15 August
- Likely to get a dual-pane sunroof when it arrives
It’s yet another day and another set of fresh details have turned up about the Mahindra Thar five-door. Ahead of its price reveal scheduled to take place on 15 August this year, test units of the car have been spied in the production-ready avatar.
As seen in the images here, the Thar Roxx test mules don multiple layers of camouflage all around. That said, the gaps in the same give us a peek at the colour options on the upcoming iteration of the lifestyle SUV, which include red and black. We expect a line-up of at least five to six options at launch.
Elsewhere, key details seen on these units of the five-door Thar include circular LED DRLs integrated into the headlamp cluster, new multi-slat grille, side steps, dual-tone finish for the alloy wheels borrowed from its three-door sibling, fender-mounted turn indicators, plastic cladding, new LED taillights, and a cover for the tailgate-mounted spare tyre.
Inside, the 2024 Thar five-door is expected to get a larger touchscreen unit, dual-pane sunroof (single-pane unit in the lower variants), front armrest, USB Type-C charging ports, B-pillar-mounted rear door handles, digital instrument cluster, and automatic climate control.
Similar to the three-door version, the five-door Mahindra Thar is likely to be powered by 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines paired with six-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Apart from rivalling the Force Gurkha five-door, it will also compete against traditional mid-size SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and the MG Astor.
