Hot on the heels of the Civic hybrid will enter the world’s most popular hybrid, the Toyota Prius, whose India launch is scheduled for 2009.
The Prius was first available to the Japanese public in 1997, and is now sold in more than forty countries worldwide. It is the most popular hybrid in the US, and the most widely-known one across the globe. Unlike Honda’s Insight, the Prius has survived the test of time. We can’t wait for technology to make its way to our country – the hybrids will be expensive, sure, but everything comes at a price, and the hybrids will cost twice as much as they do, thanks to import duties.
