The Civic Type R, in its latest avatar, has been in the news off late for smashing the front-wheel drive record at the Nurburgring circuit in Germany. Now, this extreme hot hatch has been priced for the UK.
Set to land up in showrooms in July, the entry level model will cost £30,995 (Rs 25.81 lakh) and the GT version will cost an additional £2,000 at £32,995 (Rs 27.47 lakh) on-road and will come with a host of extras.
As with the outgoing model, the GT model benefits from blind spot information including cross traffic monitor, dual zone climate control, auto dimming rear view mirror, Honda CONNECT with Garmin navigation, wireless charging and LED front fog lights.
Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, the 2017 Civic Type R shares the same fundamentals as the new Civic hatch and has been designed from the ground up to deliver strong on-track and road performance. The 2-litre VTEC TURBO of the previous-gen model has been optimised and refined to produce 320bhp with peak torque of 400Nm, while the 6-speed manual transmission is further improved by a rev match control system.
The new gen Civic Type R is manufactured at Honda’s Swindon plant in the UK and will be exported worldwide including Japan and United States. When it hits the roads later this year, the Type R will continue to rival the likes of Volkswagen Golf R and Ford Focus RS.
