If you’ve known Porsche only for making fast and expensive cars, the company will now make you believe that their genius does not apply just to four wheels alone but to two wheels as well. The German-based manufacturer is expanding its Driver’s Selection range with the inclusion of new bikes- the Bike, the Bike RS and Bike RX. These will go on sale in the global markets from March 2014.
The main highlight of the Porsche Bike is the Shimano Alfine eight-speed hub gear assembly that allows the eight gears to be shifted easily. A low-wear geared belt drive is responsible of delivering the power to the wheels without making a sound. The MT26 disc brakes provided by Magura ensure optimum braking.
The Bike RS boasts of a high-end frame with ergonomic components made from carbon fibre. Due to this, the overall weight of the bike is just nine kilograms. The XTR equipment is provided by Shimano and the ultra-lightweight brakes the bike is equipped with are supplied by Magura.
The company claims that the Bike RX is best suited for off-road routes. This mountain bike’s high-end carbon frame ensures both- low weight and damping. Braking responsibilities are managed by Magura hydraulic disc brakes and the bumps are taken care of on all terrains by the DT Swissair-suspension fork.
All these bikes feature a 20-speed gear assembly supplied by Shimano and 27.5 inch wheels which ensure a sporty ride for the rider. Another feature on these bikes is the anti-theft label engraved on the frame which acts as a registration number. In case of a theft, the unique code can be used to report the bike and can be checked by anyone online. Selling such a stolen bike would be difficult for thieves which will eventually deter their plans. The Porsche Bikes will be made available in three sizes (S, M and L) in the global markets.
