If Porsche fans think that the latest 911 GT3 isn't mad enough to get your heart pounding fast enough, this new GT3 RS version might just make your heart skip a beat. The manufacturer is readying a track-focused 911 that test engineers surely seem to have enjoyed driving in snow.
The test mule that was spotted shows many cosmetic changes to this racier variant of the 911 GT3. A double-bubble roof can be seen and the fascia sports a bonnet with a deep groove. The front bumpers shoveling the snow in the pictures are wider and reworked panels can be seen. The rear bumper is also tweaked while the car gets a huge spoiler. The cabin is expected to be equipped with sporty bucket seats and the interior might be in line with the racing theme.
The current 911 Turbo S churns out 552bhp of power and the 991 GT3 delivers 468bhp of power. While the previous-gen 911 GT3 RS 4.0 was powered by the 4.0-litre mill that produced 493bhp of power, we can expect the latest 911 GT3 RS to employ an engine that is potent enough to produce at least 500bhp of power. This will make it the most powerful yet street-legal naturally-aspirated flat-six engine manufactured by Porsche ever.
Enthusiasts expecting a manual gearbox will be heart-broken as reports suggest that only the seven-speed PDK paddle-shift transmission will be offered. However, Porsche will retune it for the RS variant. Apart from the powertrain, the automaker will work extensively on the steering, suspension, brakes and wheels as well. We can expect the car to be lighter with improved aerodynamics.
This new GT3 RS is expected to be unveiled next year at the Geneva Motor Show after which it will go on sale in the international market. We don't expect the car to be launched in India soon, but if made available, it will come through the CBU route. More solid details will be available only by next year.
