Not long ago, Porsche unveiled a hardcore version of its mid-engined offering – the Cayman. Dubbed ‘GTS’; the car featured a more powerful 3.4-litre 6-cylinder boxer engine and additional standard performance equipment.
Priced from $75,200 (Rs 45.16 lakh) onwards, the Cayman GTS is the most hardcore version of Porsche’s mid-engined sports car yet. The German marquee, however, is not quite done yet. If a recent report from Motor Trend is to be believed, Porsche is readying a more mental version of the Cayman called GT4 which could be introduced in the next three years’ time.
The upcoming flagship Cayman model could start at about $125,000 (Rs 75 lakh), positioned above the GTS. While details about the engine are sparse, the Cayman GT4 could feature a similar, albeit modified PDK auto gearbox sourced from the 911 GT3.
The report also talks about Porsche’s major expansion plans involving a whole load of plug-in hybrid versions based on the company’s existing models. Both the Panamera and the 911 Turbo could benefit from the tech. Even the Cayenne Turbo S could be seen fitted with a hybrid drive-train.
