Porsche is planning to develop a coupe version of the Cayenne according to a report. The new car will boast of the coupe profile and will be based on the third generation Cayenne. It should apparently be ready in four years from now.
The car will get a coupe roofline and will retain the five-door design. Though it might get a constricted glasshouse like the Range Rover Evoque, the roofline will be sloped towards the rear of the car. To make it sportier, the manufacturer might decrease the ride height and as a result lower the centre of gravity of the car. It is said that the vehicle will borrow traits from the 918 Spyder while the interiors will be similar to the one from the outgoing Cayenne.
The Cayenne coupe might be powered by the twin-turbo V8 petrol engine with the power output being more than 550bhp. The Stuttgart-based automaker will make the car available in Turbo, GTS as well as Turbo S models.
The Porsche Cayenne coupe should be priced at least 15 to 20 per cent more than the Cayenne and will go up against the BMW X6, Mercedes-Benz MLC and the Range Rover Sport. There was a time when Porsche focused on cars like the 911 but now the carmaker has changed this belief by introducing more crossovers and SUVs. In fact, Porsche has now increased the production of cars like the Cayenne and Macan and with this car they will add another coupe to their range.
