- It will get a revised styling and an updated feature list.
- This update will keep the Macan competitive in its segment.
Porsche introduced the all-new Macan back in 2015. The baby SUV garnered a positive response across the globe, and now, Porsche has gotten busy with the mid-life update for the Macan. A test mule was spotted near Porsche’s test facility in northern Europe and judging by the visuals, it looks like the Macan will get a minimal cosmetic update along with added features.
At first, the mule seems to be wearing no camouflage at all. But, upon closer inspection, we can see a wrapped rear section hiding a revised taillight design. At the front, the headlamp shape remains unchanged, but we could see Porsche's new X-motif lighting signature. The front bumpers have undergone a major redesign with added air-vents and repositioned louvres.
The new styling is similar to the one seen on the recently introduced Macan GTS. The squared exhaust tips are borrowed from the Turbo variant of the crossover; meanwhile, the diffusers appear to be a tad smaller. The cabin layout might get a slight revision as well. The compact SUV will come standard with current-gen assistance and safety equipment with the update.
Under the hood, Porsche might introduce a plug-in hybrid variant, but that has not been confirmed yet. It might also be joined by a new diesel powerplant since it still has a demand in the European market. The new diesel could be the twin-turbocharged unit which does duties in many Audis. But what the Macan needs the most is an even more powerful variant to take on the likes of upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLC63 AMG or the Audi RS Q5.
The updated Macan might be revealed in the upcoming months. Porsche will surely bring the Macan facelift to India shortly after it hits the roads in the international markets.
