This update should come as a relief to Porsche GT3 owners, as the carmaker would be rectifying issues that might crop up in their car. Porsche will be individually contacting owners for the replacement of the engine and providing an extra year of warranty.
Several weeks ago, two Porsche 911 GT3s caught fire in Europe. While the company was investigating what reasons might have resulted in the fire, they had asked prospective owners not to drive their car until the problem could be resolved. The automaker has now started sending mails to owners individually that they would replace the engine as they start producing new engines from April 22.
All the 785 owners will be notified and informed about the replacement, while the German carmaker fixes the problems. After the rectification is done and the replacement is complete, the company will also hand over a certificate to the owners as a document proof for the completion of work. Additionally, to compensate for the inconvenience, the consumers will be given a year of extra warranty.
Production of the new power plants will soon start and once all the necessary technical validations are finished the new engines will be shipped to the concerned owners overseas. Amidst the various recalls the automobile industry is facing, this confirmation of resolving a consumer's problems as soon as possible should give the customer a sense of relief, even though this would be problematic for many.
