According to fresh rumours doing rounds in the British media, Porsche has put the Pajun project on the back burner. Expected to make its debut in 2017, the Pajun might now be launched as late as 2019.
The reason for the delay in the Pajun project cannot be ascertained, but it is widely believed that Porsche’s upcoming Ferrari 458, to be the reason. However, there are also talks about an entry-level 718 that will slot below the Boxster and Cayman planned for a 2016 release. These new models could have pushed the envelope further for the Pajun as the company gets ready with the "Porsche Product Strategy 2018" plan.
The Pajun is supposed to rival the Maserati Ghibli, BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the Audi A6. The car will get a wide range of powertains and the top-end variants might get power in excess of 500bhp that will rival with the M5 and the E63 AMG.
Meanwhile, the updated Porsche Panamera will be launched in 2017. The new car will be based on a new lightweight platform and will get many upgrades.
