Porsche has officially previewed its Macan medium-sized SUV ahead of its official debut at the LA Motor Show slated to begin at the end of next month. It is the second SUV from the German sportscar maker and was spotted testing in and around Germany on multiple occasions.
The production spec Porsche Macan borrows many design cues from the bigger Cayenne and gets a new front grille, sloping roof line and special Quad LED headlights. The prominent rear spoiler and noticeably lower ground clearance give it a much sportier stance than the Cayenne. We also expect that the Macan will share many of its interior components and design features with the Cayenne.
We have already got engine details for the Macan Turbo and the Macan S thanks to spy pictures from a dealers meet that was held in the US recently. The Porsche Macan S will get a 3.0-litre V6 engine while the Macan Turbo will get a 3.6-litre V6 mill and should both provide outputs in the range of 300PS to 400PS.
These are the engine figures for the higher spec models. The standard models will get similar engines but in lower states of tune. The report suggest that the cars will be priced USD 52,000 (Rs 32.50 lakh) and USD75,000 (Rs 46.87 lakh). The seven-speed PDK box is expected to be standard across the range.
Production of the Porsche Macan is expected to begin by the end of the year which means that deliveries will start by February 2014. We will get the Macan towards this time next year and it will be brought to India via the CBU route.
