Porsche has unveiled the new Macan GTS at the ongoing Tokyo Motor Show. Looking mostly similar to a regular Macan, the new GTS version of the luxury crossover features a re-engineered chassis, 20bhp more power and uprated brakes.
In terms of performance, the Macan GTS is powered by a 3-litre twin turbocharged V6 petrol engine with 360bhp of power and 500Nm of torque. This configuration puts the GTS between the Macan S and the Macan Turbo in the line-up.
The technical basis for the GTS’ drivetrain is the V6 unit from the Macan S, supplemented by the Porsche’s 7-speed PDK gearbox and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) with variable power distribution to all four wheels. In addition, the GTS also features a sports exhaust system for improved driving pleasure behind the wheel.
Porsche says they have gone with a more sporting state of tune for its active suspension which also offers a 15mm lowered ride height. All in all, the improvements made to the GTS version over the regular Macan S allow the former to accelerate from 0-100kmph in 5.2 seconds, or 5 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package.
Porsche has announced that it will put the Macan GTS on sale in Europe starting next month. The Indian market, meanwhile, will continue to get the S Diesel and Turbo versions for now.
