After launching the Porsche Cayenne GTS globally, last month, Porsche has now launched the all-new Cayenne for the Indian market at a price of Rs 1.02 crore (ex-showroom Delhi) for the diesel version. While the Cayenne Turbo will retail for Rs 1.78 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).
The new generation Cayenne is available in four versions in the country: Cayenne Diesel, Cayenne S Diesel, Cayenne S and the Cayenne Turbo.
In keeping with Porsche’s heritage, the design engineers have given the Cayenne an even sharper design with precise lines and purposefully placed light refracting edges. Front body, front wings, bonnet and air blades are also newly shaped. Lighting up the Porsche’s way are bi-xenon headlights and four-point LED daytime running lights. The new layout of the model’s rear lights creates a three-dimensional effect with the brake lights designed in four elements. The license plate, boot handle and lights are now integrated more elegantly into the boot lid. Down below, the newly developed exhaust tailpipes are now incorporated in the lower rear section, while an automatically activating boot lid is fitted as standard.
The interior looks pretty focussed on the driver; much of the layout has been shaped with a new multifunction sport steering wheel – which can also be found in the 918 Spyder – featuring shift paddles as standard. Standard features like the air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management, Porsche Entry and Drive, four-zone auto climate control and panorama sunroof are available in the new Cayenne. Customers can additionally specify their new Cayenne with options like soft-close doors, surround camera as well as the Sport Chrono package which now incorporates Performance Start function.
Tweaks have been made in the power department as well. All new Cayenne models consume significantly less fuel, with the help of new features including a coasting function, a further advanced auto stop-start function plus (except Diesel) and optimised thermal management, with active cooling air flaps now being used for the first time in the Cayenne.
The diesel versions of the new Cayenne combine sportiness with fuel efficiency. The three-litre V6 engine in the Cayenne Diesel produces 241.6bhp from 3,800 to 4,400rpm and the car can accelerate from zero to 100kmph in 7.6 seconds (7.5 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package), and has a top speed of 218kmph. The 4.2-litre V8 engine of the Cayenne S Diesel produces 379.7bhp at 3,750rpm and a torque of 850Nm from 2,000 to 2,750 rpm. From a standstill, it reaches 100 kmph in only 5.4 seconds (5.3 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package). Its top speed is 252kmph.
The all-new 3.6-litre V6 bi-turbo engine of the Cayenne S which has been fully developed by Porsche develops a maximum power of 414.2bhp at 6,000rpm. The car's torque of 550Nm. With its standard eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission, the Cayenne S accelerates from zero to 100 kmph in just 5.5 seconds (5.4 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package) – 0.4 seconds faster than the previous Cayenne S. The vehicle's top speed is 259kmph.
Leading the model field is the Cayenne Turbo, powered by a 4.8-litre bi-turbo V8 engine that produces 512.8bhp at 6,000rpm and 750Nm of torque from 2,250 to 4,000 rpm. This lets the Cayenne Turbo accelerate from zero to 100kmph in a mere 4.5 seconds (4.4 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package). Its top speed is 279kmph. The fuel consumption figures of all versions are as per the European Driving Cycle.
The new Cayenne models are now available at all Porsche Centres in India.
