Sources report that both the Porsche 911 GT3 and the Cayman GT4 RS are slated to receive the 4.0-litre engine that currently powers the GT3 RS and 911 R.
Let talk about the 911 GT3 first. This 4.0-litre flat six-cylinder unit is expected to be retuned before it’s plugged under the hood of the 911 GT3. Reports allege that the power output may hover around 500bhp and will be a good bump-up from the present car’s 475bhp, made by the 3.8-litre motor.
On the other hand, the Cayman GT4 RS is expected to get a detuned version of the above motor which finds its way into the 911 GT3. Though Porsche wasn’t keen on introducing the Cayman GT4 RS as per their earlier statements, they eventually changed their decision due to high demand for the product.
Also, enthusiasts can now rejoice as reports confirm that Porsche’s refreshed 911 GT3 may be offered with a six-speed manual transmission. Since spy shots of a Porsche car hiding the gearshift have been shared by some websites, it may as well confirm this. Nevertheless, Porsche would obviously offer a dual-clutch gearbox as an option too.
The shots of the 911 GT3 that were revealed in October highlighted revisions in the fascia and rear bumper of the test car. We shall give you more news in the months to come.
