Porsche revealed to the press at the 2016 Paris Motor Show that it is possible that the market could see a two-door Porsche Panamera coupe in the not so distant future.
Michael Steiner, Porsche member for research and development, said that though the idea behind a Panamera coupe is a good one, there’s a strong possibility that a better idea could precede it. Nevertheless, he reiterated that the brand had enough technical knowhow to make this concept a reality considering their MSB platform had the architecture to incorporate hybrid tech into varied body styles.
Steiner also added that Porsche has done its homework exceedingly well over the years, which is why the brand was successful in introducing products like the Cayenne, Panamera, Macan, and the Mission E project (EV) at the appropriate time. However, Steiner admitted that the future business model will revolve around electric cars, and as the market evolves steadily, it is highly likely that funding for the relevant research and development may be given priority over other concepts or ideas like the Panamera coupe.
It looks like only time can tell if this concept can make it to the market, so stay tuned for more on Porsche’s plans for an electric future.
