Porsche’s 991 Convertible was spotted testing displaying some cosmetic changes to the car. Recently, the prototype of the Boxster GTS was also sighted along with another GTS version of the Cayman. The German carmaker seems to be paying special attention to the looks of their cars.
Spy photographers at Autoevolution caught the refreshed Porsche 991 Convertible being tested with visible changes to the exteriors. The German engineers have changed the front bumper, it boasts of different cooling intakes and comes equipped with DRL bars. The other changes include a new rear bumper and revised tail lamps.
Coming to the power train, no details are available as yet. However, media speculations suggest that the normal Carreras will be powered by the new turbo engine that the company is developing. The top variant cars will not be equipped with this new motor which will come at the same time as the facelift of this convertible. With the designers implementing cut-outs in the bumpers of the test mule and a different hood for the mill, it shows that the company has been bringing in major changes to the mechanical bits.
The primary reason why Porsche seems to be giving their cars upgrades and refreshing the various models might be, because the owners of the 911 seem to be replacing their vehicles within a couple of years. The new model of this Porsche 991 apparently also gives a better mileage than the previous model, which gives another reason for a customer to upgrade apart from the fresh new look.
