Porsche will launch the facelifted 911 Carrera line-up for the Indian market this month. The automaker had unveiled this 2016 model at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The exterior enhancements include the signature round headlamps, which now feature distinctive four-point DRLs. While the front has huge air intakes, the sides get inset door handles without recess covers. Coming to the rear section, we can see new vents on the bumper, dual exhaust tips, revised tail lamps and vertical louvres for the engine cover.
Inside the cabin, the most prominent change is the new seven-inch touch screen unit. It gets a new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) and online navigation. This navigation system comes integrated with Google Earth and Google Streetview. The touch screen system also features multi-touch and handwriting inputs and supports Android and Apple smartphones through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi as well.
Apart from these exterior and interior tweaks, the biggest change comes in the form of the new 3.0-litre turbocharged flat-six engine. This is a first for the 911 Carrera lineup. It gets a power bump of 20bhp and 60Nm over the current models. The entry-level Carrera's engine now has a power output of 370bhp and 450Nm, while the Carrera S gets a 420bhp, 500Nm unit. Either the cars get a 7-speed manual or the brand's 7-speed PDK automated manual gearbox, which sends power to the rear wheels. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) comes standard to be able to lower the height of the car by 10mm.
Porsche India is expected to offer the 911 Carrera, 911 Carrera S, 911 Carrera Cabriolet and the 911 Carrera S Cabriolet for the Indian market. All the models will come as CBU units and we expect the prices to be announced soon.
