Pininfarina is preparing to take the automotive world by a storm when it arrives as a full-stack carmaker after its illustrious career as a leading car designer in the world. After the PF0 supercar, the Mahindra-owned brand is now building an SUV codenamed PF1.
Not surprising is the fact that Pininfarina has already announced its partnership with Rivian for the development of what seems to be a super-SUV in the making. This partnership isn’t surprising because Pininfarina has already teamed up with Rimac, another electric-car manufacturer for the development of the PF0.
Rivian, an American startup, had recently wowed the world at the Los Angeles Motor show with their concept truck and SUV, the R1T and the R1S. The Rivians claim to deliver performance to rival that of Tesla, including acceleration as well as range accelerating to 100kmph in just over 3.5 seconds and being capable of covering over 600kms in a single charge.
The PF1 is slated to get more than 1000bhp of power and probably double the number in torque and will be more of a soft-roader, an SUV that would rather compete with the Lamborghini Urus than the Mercedes G-Wagon. With sportier overtones, it will be replete with air suspension, dynamic body control and a whole lot of technology.
