Suzuki has earned its name as a maker of practical and efficient compact cars and the forthcoming new Baleno promises to be no different. Previously seen as the concept iK- 2, this new model will soon arrive at the Frankfurt Motor Show as the all-new Baleno.
With the iK-2 concept measuring 4,023mm in length, 1,920mm in width, 1,450mm in height and featuring a 2520mm wheelbase, the Baleno is expected to be similarly sized.
The Baleno looks thoroughly contemporary with its new y-shaped grille and sweptback headlights with daytime running lights.
The rear, however, seems pretty mundane with the only interesting bits being the boot lip spoiler and the attractive circular taillight assembly.
The Baleno will feature Suzuki’s newly developed 1-litre BOOSTERJET direct injection petrol engine. Boasting a turbocharger, this new petrol engine will be highly fuel efficient while offering decent performance.
Full details on the new Baleno will be disclosed on September 15 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Here in India, it will be sold by Maruti Suzuki although what’s not certain is whether the brand will adopt the Baleno nameplate.
