Korean automaker Hyundai has launched the new sixth generation Elantra in India with new design and feature upgrades. The company claims that the new premium sedan is built on a new platform with safety and performance being the highest priority.
The new Hyundai Elantra is based on the company’s new Fluidic 2.0 design language that gives the car a bold, modern and futuristic appeal. The 16-inch gunmetal finish alloys completes the unique sporty design with a coupe-like stance. The unique aerodynamic design with innovative wheel air curtain has reduced the drag effect to a considerable effect.
The front section gets 3D hexagonal grille, sleek HID headlamps with LED light guides. As for the rear, it gets eye catching split type LED Tail lamps. As a first-in-segment, the new Elantra gets welcome function with door pocket light.
Under the hood, the petrol variant is powered by a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which generates 152bhp of power and 190Nm of torque. As for the diesel variant, it is powered by a 1.6-litre engine which generates 128bhp of power and 265Nm torque. Both the engines are available in six-speed manual and automatic transmission options.
As for interiors, the new Elantra gets premium leather upholstery, front ventilated seats, engine start/stop button, rear AC vents and advanced infotainment system with 8.0-inch high definition capacitive touch screen- Audio Video Navigation System (AVN) with rear view camera. For the first time, the vehicle also gets an electric sunroof. For better air quality inside the cabin the sedan gets dual zone FATC with cluster ionizer in the AC system.
As for safety, the new Elantra gets variant specific features like six airbags, ESC, hill start assist control, vehicle stability management, impact sensing door unlock and speed sensing lock. Hyundai claims that the new gen Elantra is developed with 53 per cent of advanced high strength steel that offers an additional 32 per cent strength in comparison to the previous generation. Features like dual front airbags and ABS with EBD is standard across all variants.
