Ferrari’s show-stopper for the ongoing Frankfurt Motor Show is the all-new 488 Spider. This all-new offering is Ferrari’s most powerful mid-engined V8 car to feature a retractable hard top. Finished in shiny Blue Corsa paint, the 488 Spider marks the public debut of the convertible version of the standard 488 revealed months ago.
Like previous Spider versions, Ferrari says the 488 Spider is aimed squarely at buyers seeking open-air driving pleasure in a high-performance sports car with an unmistakable Ferrari engine sound.
The 488 Spider uses a 3902cc turbocharged V8 that debuted on the 488 GTB. Thanks to 670bhp of power and 760Nm of torque, this new model can accelerate from zero to 100kmph in 3 seconds flat.
The hardtop mechanism is 25 kilograms lighter than a soft top and also offers better protection. Ferrari claims the roof on the 488 Spider can be raised and lowered in just 14 seconds.
The 488 Spider will compete against the convertible version of the McLaren 650S.
