After being introduced here in the Indian market earlier this year, the Hyundai i20 Active is set to go on sale in Europe. Looking nearly similar to the India-spec model, the Europe-bound i20 Active is set to make its global debut at this month’s Frankfurt Motor Show.
Like its local derivative, the Euro-spec i20 Active uses skid plates on the front and rear and cladding on the wheel arches for a more rugged look. But unlike the former, this new model gets revised suspension settings to raise the car’s ground clearance by 20mm compared to the standard i20.
In terms of exterior changes, only the headlight detailing and the alloy wheel design are different compared to the India-spec i20 Active.
Under the hood, the Euro-spec i20 Active features a new three-cylinder, 1-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
Hyundai has revealed that this turbocharged engine will be available with two power outputs across the entire global i20 range from the end of 2015. The 100bhp version is tuned to maximise fuel economy, while the 120bhp unit has been developed to facilitate more spirited driving without sacrificing efficiency.
Stay tuned for more details on the Euro-spec i20 Active which will debut soon at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
