A year on from the launch of the M4 Coupe, BMW’s M division has previewed the car’s dark side in the form of the M4 GTS. Shown as a concept, the M4 GTS is a high-performance coupe designed to shine on a race track as well as on the road.
Essentially a two-door version of the M3, the M4 GTS continues the tradition of M3 special models already formed by the M3 Evolution (1988), M3 Sport Evolution (1990), M3 CSL (2003) and the M3 GTS (2010).
The concept M4 GTS gets a load of M goodness including the twin-turbocharged, 3-litre, in-line 6-cylinder engine with a new water injection system, manually adjustable front splitter and rear wing (both in exposed carbon), carbon fibre hood and wider front air intakes. The car also gets BMW’s new OLED (organic light-emitting diodes) technology for the tail lamps.
Although BMW hasn’t disclosed horsepower and torque figures yet, the brand has said that the GTS is noticeably quicker than the standard M4.
All of these upgrades will be seen on the production-spec M4 GTS which will arrive early next year as a limited edition model. Till then here are some pictures of the car showing us its ‘best sides’.
