Peugeot has finally revealed the production ready version of the 2008 crossover that will debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The new compact SUV that is based on the 208 hatchback is a direct rival to the Renault Duster and the Ford Ecosport.
The crossover is just six-inches longer than the hatchback, but looks quite bulked up owing to 17-inch alloy-wheels and flared wheel arches. The 2008 will also get panoramic sunroof as option along double-bubble roof for better headroom.
The 2008 will be available with in both turbo petrol and diesel guise with turbocharging to curtain emissions. The crossover will be initially launched in Europe, followed by Brazil and China where it will be assembled. The prices of the 2008 should be out in March in Geneva and the deliveries in their home market, France, should begin by June.
PSA Peugeot Citroen group’s plans for India are derailed at this moment due to economic pressure in Europe. The French group is expected to commence operations in India in a while and we hope that the new 2008 compact SUV is one of their first products to be offered here.
